Day 1- January 6

We arrived finally at the Montarina after an 8 hour plane ride and 2 hour bus ride. The city of Lugano is absolutely beautiful. We have a breathtaking view from our window, overlooking the lake and the city. We pretty much just spent the day unpacking and getting accustomed to the hotel. The hardest part was by far the time difference, being 6 hours ahead here. We had to try and stay up until 11 pm after not sleeping for over 36 hours. Brinberg (our professor) did take us on a small tour around the city of Lugano, where we ended up at the University. Universities here are very different. There's one building, and apparently only 3000 students total attend. A big difference from Virginia Tech. Everything is one giant hill here. To town, it's one giant downhill, and then one giant uphill back to the Montarina. We passed a bunch of small stores and shops, but today was a holiday so most of them were closed. Our hotel is really nice, but our room lacks storage space. It's completely  I told them to order some dressers off of Craigslist. The euro rail station is literally right across the street, which is really convenient. Just the building structures are so much prettier than American buildings. It's also crazy how clean it is here, I have yet to see a piece of trash on the ground. I'm already starting to make a lot of friends, but I decided not to go out at night with some of the people because I am dead tired. So time to catch up on sleep, something that I haven't gotten in days it feels like.
